Women in Print: An exhibition of work by sixteen local artists to celebrate Manchester and the iconic women who’ve had made it great. Curated by Jane Bowyer. www.womeninprint.uk
My piece celebrates the proud achievements of Helen Bradley. I wanted to depict moments of her life and characters from her paintings and breath new life into them. Miss Scarlet in pink features in most of Bradley's paintings, as well as being the title of her popular book, so I featured her prominently here. Reading about Helen Bradley is further proof that it's never too late to follow your dreams. She didn't start her painting career until she was 65. She also had a really cute cat named Cuckoo.
